Be the Agent of Change
Leadership / Advice
Don't wait for someone else to fix things. That's your job.
The Idea
If you see something that needs changing, own it. Leaders who wait for permission or for someone else to act are not leading.
What This Means
- See a broken process? Propose a better one.
- Team morale is low? Address it directly.
- Technical debt is growing? Make time for it.
- Communication is poor? Improve it yourself first.
How to Drive Change
- Start small. Don't overhaul everything at once.
- Show, don't tell. Demonstrate the new way instead of just talking about it.
- Build allies. Find others who see the problem and work together.
- Be patient. Change takes time. Persistence beats force.
The Courage Part
Change means discomfort - yours and others'. Some people will resist. Some will be annoyed. That's normal. The cost of inaction is usually higher.
