Amplify Good Patterns
Leadership / Advice
Notice what's working and make more of it.
The Idea
Leaders often focus on fixing problems. But an equally powerful move is spotting things that work well and amplifying them.
How to Amplify
- Name it. "What you did in that retro was great - you made space for the quiet voices."
- Share it. Tell other teams about approaches that worked.
- Systematise it. Turn a successful one-off into a repeatable practice.
- Reward it. Recognise the behaviour publicly.
Why This Works
- People do more of what gets noticed and valued.
- Positive reinforcement is more effective than correction.
- Good patterns already exist in your team - you just need to find them.
In Practice
- One team has great incident reviews? Spread their format.
- Someone writes excellent RFCs? Use theirs as a template.
- A manager runs effective 1:1s? Ask them to share their approach.
