Visualisation Makes the Group Smarter
Leadership / Advice
Making things visible helps teams think together.
The Idea
When information is visible (on a board, screen, or document), the whole group can process it simultaneously. When it's only in someone's head or in spoken words, it's lost.
Why It Works
- Visual information is processed faster and retained longer.
- Everyone sees the same thing, reducing misunderstandings.
- Patterns and gaps become obvious.
- It equalises participation - you don't need to remember what someone said 10 minutes ago.
How to Apply
- Use whiteboards, Miro, or similar tools in discussions.
- Draw architecture diagrams, not just talk about them.
- Make project status visible (kanban boards, dashboards).
- In brainstorming, write ideas where everyone can see them.
- Sketch problems before solving them.
The Rule
If you're discussing something complex and there's no visual aid, stop and create one. The conversation will immediately improve.
