Diversify Everything
Product / Advice
Single points of failure break businesses. Spread your dependencies.
What to Diversify
- Acquisition channels. One channel cut (algorithm change, platform rules) shouldn't kill you.
- Customers. One customer worth 30% of revenue is a liability.
- Suppliers and vendors. Lock-in to one provider means they set the terms.
- Revenue streams. One business model breaks; the others keep you alive.
- People knowledge. No critical area should depend on one person.
Why It Matters
- Concentration is a bet. Diversification is insurance.
- The cheapest way to do anything is the riskiest.
- Most company deaths come from unnoticed concentrations.
How to Apply
- Map your dependencies. Circle any that represent more than 30% of something critical.
- Invest to reduce the biggest concentration, not all of them at once.
- Re-check annually — concentrations drift.
The Trap
Over-diversifying early. A small team can't service five channels and five personas at once. Concentrate during exploration; diversify during scale.
